JOB SUMMARY
The Lead Teacher provides
oversight for The Salvation Army’s Reading Program: Leveraging Literacy; sets
curriculum for classes; recruits teachers and teaching assistants; recruits
participants for the program; conducts pre-tests and post-tests with
participants to monitor and document progress, maintains effective working
relationships with schools; teaches participants in classroom setting and
individually; ensures compliance with program policies and procedures.
The Salvation Army’s Reading
Program: Leveraging Literacy focuses on increasing the literacy skills of
children 8-12 years of age. The program meets for 2 hours, on school days, in
the afternoon.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
·
A Bachelor’s Degree in education from
an accredited college or university, teacher certification, and two years
working in an educational environment teaching children.
OR
·
Any equivalent combination of
training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and
abilities.
